It happens. Three days after my younger brother's 43rd birthday, he died instantly from a heart attack. Five years later, my friend lost his inspiring fight with rheumatoid arthritis, Hodgkin's lymphoma and leukemia. He was 53. Two years after that, another good friend had a massive stoke at age 59. Thankfully he survived.
These dramatic and traumatic events changed my life. I have always spent time with my family and God, but instead of dedicating every spare minute to my passion of dentistry, I decided to devote those spare minutes to my other passions, travel and photography, in an more concentrated effort to embrace life to the fullest. I wanted to be sure to make the most of whatever healthy life I had remaining. Then it happened to me. At age 58, I had a heart attack and quintuple bypass surgery. The idea of a montage of my photos paired with meaningful, heartfelt quotations propelled me forward, resulting in this book, "Embrace Life".
